Sir Stephen O’Brien CBE

Sir Stephen O’Brien serves as the President of Unitas Communications. He is also the Chairman of Barts Health NHS Trust and Ed Miliband’s Mental Health in Society Task Force. Previously he was the Chairman of NHS Tower Hamlets and Teach First as well as on the Board of the University of East London.

Muddassar Ahmed
Managing Partner

In addition to leading Unitas, Muddassar is the President of the Concordia Forum and a Patron of the Faiths Forum for London. He is also a Former Independent Advisor to the UK Government on Muslim communities, and on boards for the Atlantic Council think tank, Global Ties USA, ISTAC -IIUM (Malaysia) and a Fellow of the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF). Muddassar has been listed as amongst the 500 most influential Muslims globally and amongst the 1000 most influential Londoners.

Shiraz Ahmad

Shiraz is a Partner at Unitas Communications, where he has led projects for the United Nations, Amnesty International, the NFL, the Arab League, the US State Department, and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), among many others. He is also the Co-Founder of the Concordia Forum. Shiraz has a background in communications having worked as the Communications Officer for the British Chambers of Commerce in Czech Republic before founding Unitas with Muddassar back in 2008.

Zahed Amanullah

Zahed serves as a Consultant at Unitas. In addition, he is the Resident Senior Fellow at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD). Zahed has given testimony and contributed submissions to the UK Home Affairs Select Committee on Radicalisation. His writings and analysis have been featured on the BBC, Channel 4, Sky News, the Guardian, CNN International, Bloomberg, Newsweek, and Le Monde Diplomatique, among others.

Elina Kuusio
Account Manager

Elina Kuusio is an Account Manager at Unitas Communications. Besides being the main point of contact for clients such as the United Nations World Tourism Organization and Friends of the Earth, she is managing various projects including the PR Unmasked podcast. Prior to joining Unitas, Elina worked as a Development and Programme Intern at Salzburg Global Seminar. She has an MSc in Security Studies from University College London (UCL), and a BA in Politics and Media from Bournemouth University.

Anah Khan

Anah Khan is an Intern at Unitas Communications. In her role Anah assists the team by conducting research as well as developing media content for upcoming projects. She has an LLB from Surrey University and alongside her position at Unitas, is currently studying a masters in Commercial and Humanitarian Law from University College London (UCL).

Asim Ali

Asim is a Consultant at Unitas Communications. He works on research proposals, provides public relations support, and assists in developing media content. Prior to joining Unitas, Asim worked in a variety of roles for three UK Members of Parliament and interned for the United Nations in Geneva. He holds an MA in Human Rights, Globalisation & Justice and a BA in International Business & International Relations from Keele University.

Haroon Moghul
Account Director

Haroon serves as an Account Director at Unitas. In addition, he is a regular commentator on Islam and public affairs; he has appeared on all major US networks and many international news networks. Haroon is also an academic who has authored several books, including How To Be A Muslim: An American Story (2017) and The Future of Islam is in Your Hands (2022). His articles have been published by numerous leading media outlets including The New York Times, CNN, The Washington Post, TIME, Foreign Policy, The Guardian and Al Jazeera, among many others.

Shayna Wilson
Account Executive

Shayna is an Account Executive at Unitas. She holds an MA in Social Anthropology from the University of Edinburgh and recently completed a creative writing course at Faber Academy in London. She has written for publications such as environmental non-profit Mongabay and has worked in various communications, strategy and research roles across the US, UK and China.
